Most corporate travel agencies run on software somebody else sold them. The portal is licensed, the back office is outsourced, and when you need something to work differently the answer is that it cannot. We went the other way.
Every system Xplorz runs on — the booking engine, the travel desk, the ledger, the reconciliation, the invoicing — was hand-built by Vikram Ramchand, who founded and runs Xplorz. Not licensed. Not outsourced. Not a white-labelled portal with our logo dropped into the corner.
That is an unusual thing for a travel company to say, and it has one very practical consequence: when your programme needs something to behave differently, the person who decides is the person who writes it. There is no vendor to raise a ticket with, no roadmap to wait on, and nobody who has to be persuaded that your edge case is worth their quarter.
That is a matter of background as much as principle. Vikram read computer science at Georgia Tech and founded Xplorz in 2005 — then took an MBA at London Business School while running it. The engineer came before the founder, which is much of why the company builds its own software rather than licensing someone else’s.

Someone writes a sentence — a name, a city, a date. The system parses it, searches every carrier we hold (full-service, low-cost and your own negotiated corporate fares) and answers with options that already pass your travel policy. No portal, no forms, no login.
Once a flight is chosen it holds, prices and issues the ticket, applies the seat and meal that traveller always takes without asking again, and sends the e-ticket back into the same conversation as a PDF.
The invoice is raised, GST applied, coded to the right cost centre, and placed on your weekly statement — as a consequence of the booking, not as a data-entry job somebody does afterwards.
Every hour the ledger re-checks its own arithmetic and flags anything that does not tie — a bill that disagrees with the ledger, tax on the wrong base — while it is still this morning's problem rather than month-end's.
The machine takes the parts of the job that were never worth a person: retyping an itinerary, chasing a seat, reconciling a statement line by line. What it frees up is the part that always was — knowing that this traveller will not take a red-eye, that this visa needs eleven working days, that a flight cancelling at 2am needs someone awake and answering. Every client has named travel managers. They are the point; the software is what stops them drowning.
